Learn about me & my plunge into the world of property. From start to finish.
I’d just like to take a moment to say thanks for visiting the site. I really hope you find something on here that can be of use to you – even if it’s just one thing, I’ve done my job.
So let me tell you a little more about me!
My name is Chris, a 27 year old “wantrepeneur” from Leicestershire.
Like a lot of people no doubt, I graduated from university roughly 6 years ago and entered a career path that felt a little bit unfulfilling. It wasn’t what I wanted to do long term, but it paid the bills for now.
So that’s what I did. The trouble is, It’s easy to get caught up in the day to day slog that is 9-5 working. I’ve always been entrepreneurial in mind and have wanted to work for myself for quite some time. I’ve just been lacking the means and the inspiration. Well – there’s nothing like a worldwide Coronavirus pandemic to get you moving!
My Key Milestones…
Let the 9-5 Commence…
Picture a young, 21 year old guy – fresh out of uni and about to start his career in retail (I was lucky enough to bag a place on Tesco’s Graduate Management Scheme). I had always wanted to go self-employed one day but I was missing two things… An idea and some capital. My plan was to get just that and ready myself to venture out on my own.
When life gives you lemons…
Four years later, wow time really does fly. Even after a career move that entrepreneurial spirit is still alive, but still missing that all important idea. So, I had saved up some spare cash and made the decision instead to buy my first house on my own! The house needed a lot of work, but I managed to buy it for a bargain price – Crikey, it was the best decision I ever made.
After a series of unfortunate events…
Imagine being on holiday, the sun is shining and you’ve just pulled up to a restaurant with glorious reviews, you’re hungry and you can’t wait to tuck in. The phone rings.
“Hello, I’m PC (Insert Name Here), I’m stood outside of your house and I’m afraid you’ve been burgled.”
Great – just what I needed. It was at that point when I made the decision, as soon as i’m finished doing this place up – I’m moving out. So I sold it – and it went really well, I never expected that the work I did would increase the value by so much in such a short space of time. My second house…
Shortly after completing the sale on my last place, I up-scaled a little bit and bought my current place. Similar to the first, it needed work which I’m about half-way through renovating as I type this.
I didn’t buy this place with any intention of selling it. But, as is usually the case – life has changed those plans somewhat. Don’t worry, it’s not bad news – I met a beautiful lady who I’m now proud to call my other half. Who knows where life will take us, but another sale might be on the cards to free us up to buy together!
Making the most of lockdown…
Not that long ago, the world was hit by a pandemic – if you don’t know anything about this, then where have you been – living under a rock!?
Anyway, I thought I would use this time wisely – and linking back to my first timeline post in September 2014, I finally have my idea. My way to go self-employed.
I want to get into property, full-time. And so this site was born, to make my journey public. Organise my thoughts, challenges & lessons – and hopefully help a few others along the way.
Wish me luck!
